A number of regulations have been established to insure the protection and management of the natural and cultural resources of Virgin Islands National Park.
Shoreline Use
Dogs, cats, or other pets are not permitted in campgrounds or on designated (buoyed-off) swim beaches. Elsewhere in the park, pets must be under physical restraint at all times.
Do not build fires on the ground. Cooking fires are permitted only in grills.
Marine Resource Protection
Do not damage or take any dead or live marine features such as sea fans, coral, and shells.
Anchors must not cause damage to underwater features of the Park.
All sea turtles are endangered or threatened species. Do not harass or harm them.
Do not disturb or remove shipwrecks or their contents.
Absolutely no dumping of any human waste or refuse in park waters.
Tying boats to shoreline vegetation is prohibited.
Feeding of any wildlife in the park, either on land or in the water, is prohibited.
Fishing
Fishing is permitted except in Trunk and Jumbie Bays, with hand held rod and line.
Possession or use of any type of spearfishing equipment within park boundries is prohibited.
Florida Spiny Lobsters may be taken by hand or by handheld snare. DO NOT take female lobsters with eggs. Limit: 2 per day. Legal size limit: 3.5" carapace and a 9" overall body length. DO NOT take Rock Lobster or the lobster species variously called Slipper Lobster, Buccaneer or Locust Lobster.
Conch season is open from October 1st to June 30th. Size limit: conch must be 9" long or lip thickness of 3/8" and landed in the shell. Limit: 2 per person per day.
Whelk season is open from October 1st to March 30th. Size limit: whelk must be larger than 2.5" (6.25 cm) to keep. Limit: One gallon per person per day.
Miscellaneous
Overnight stays in park waters are limited to 14 nights per year.
Quiet hours are from 10 p.m to 6 a.m.
Water skiing or towing of any recreational device, and use of personal watercraft (jet-skis, wave runners, etc.) are prohibited in park waters.
National Park Rangers may board any vessel in the park at any time in order to conduct official business.
